Unveiled monument of Gavrilo Princip
Presidents of Serbia and the Serbian Republic Tomislav Nikolić and Milorad Dodik were on Sunday on unveiled monument of Gavrilo Princip. The monument was placed in the Financial Park, at the corner of Nemanjina street and Sarajevska street, not far from the Serbian government building.
About 1,000 people were attended on this gala event at which the President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolić was said that Gavrilo Princip was responsible for the idea of liberation from slavery, which was then circulated through Europe.
This is a joint project of the governments of Serbia and the Serbian Republic and the City of Belgrade, and was elected that part of Belgrade because the young bosnian people were meeting there , stayed there and after that they went to Sarajevo.
The Monument of Gavrilo Princip, who is set on the corner of Nemanjina street and Sarajevo street in Belgrade, is a work from a sculptor Zoran Kuzmanović and made in two copies, one statue is in East Sarajevo, and now, a year later, the second as the gift of the Republic of Serbian is adopted in Belgrade on 101 anniversary of the assassination in Sarajevo. The monument, which was blessed by Atanasije Rakita, is two meters tall and weighs 350 pounds.
On the first side of the monument are written the lyrics ” Al’ pravo je rekao pre Žerajić, soko sivi: Ko hoće da živi nek’ mre, ko hoće da mre nek’ živi!”, and the other side “Blago tome ko dovijek živi imao se rašta i roditi”.
